The Biggest Update Yet — Accounts, Offline Listening, Podcast Feeds, and More
Hello everyone — this is by far the biggest update in Last Minute Lecture history, and we're excited to finally share it with you.
Before we get into it, the most important thing first: nothing about free access changes. Every chapter, every audio guide, and every transcript remains free for everyone. What's new is a set of tools built around how students actually study — and a way to make them yours.
Free Accounts and Your Study Room
Sign In, It's Free
You can now create a free Last Minute Lecture account — sign in with Google or email in seconds. No subscription, no card, free forever.
My Study Room
Signing in unlocks My Study Room, your personal home on the platform. It holds your profile, your saved chapters, your notes, your downloads, your podcast feed, and your requests — all in one place, on every device.
Save Chapters and Take Notes
Bookmark any chapter to find it again fast, and write rich-text notes on any chapter. Everything is tied to your account, so your work follows you.
Pick Up Where You Left Off
Your listening history and resume positions now sync across devices. A "Continue Learning" row on the homepage takes you straight back to the chapter you were studying — at the exact spot you stopped.
Study Mode, Completely Rebuilt
Study Mode is now free for every signed-in account — and it has been rebuilt from the ground up, especially for phones.
Follow-Along Reading
The transcript now highlights word-by-word in sync with the audio, karaoke-style. Choose the follow style that works for you — Glow, line Fill, or off — and pick your own highlight color.
Focus Mode
One tap hides every control and leaves nothing but the text on your screen. Perfect for locking in.
A–B Loop
Tap two words to loop that exact passage over and over until it sticks — it works while the audio is playing.
Made for Reading
Adjust the text size, switch to a dark reading surface, or turn on a dyslexia-friendly reading font. There are playback speed controls right inside Study Mode, keyboard shortcuts on desktop, and you can tap any word to see its definition.
The Interactive Transcript
Viewing and searching the full word-synced transcript on any chapter is also free with your account — click any line to jump the audio to that exact moment.
Take Last Minute Lecture Anywhere — Even Offline
Install It Like an App
You can now install Last Minute Lecture on your phone or computer — no app store needed. Look for the install button in the header, or follow the step-by-step instructions on iPhone and iPad.
Offline Listening
Supporters can download chapters — or entire books — and study with no connection at all. The player, Study Mode, and transcripts all work offline, and downloads are unlimited at every supporter tier.
It Just Works
The app notices within seconds when you lose connection, shows you the way to your downloads, and switches back automatically the moment you're online again. Audio keeps playing while you move around the app, and when we ship improvements, a small banner lets you update with one tap.
Listen as a Podcast
Supporters get a private podcast feed: add any book to Apple Podcasts, Overcast, Pocket Casts, or any app that accepts a feed link. Chapters arrive in order and play in the background, on CarPlay, and from the lock screen — like any show you follow. Your feed link is unique to your account, you can reset it anytime, and there's an "Add to podcast app" button right on every book page.
Request Books and Translations — and Vote
Supporter Requests
Supporters can request new books (upload the PDF or EPUB with your request so we can produce it) and request translations of any existing book into over 70 languages. You can track the status of your requests in your Study Room.
Community Voting
Every account — supporter or not — can vote on the request board. Votes help us decide what to make next.
To set expectations honestly: requests are suggestions that guide our priorities, and no request is ever guaranteed. If something ever goes wrong with one of your requests, there's now a contact right on the request page — email us and we'll make it right.
Books in Your Language
The first Spanish editions are live across major nursing titles, including Lewis's Medical-Surgical Nursing, Lehne's Pharmacotherapeutics, and the Saunders NCLEX-RN review. One button on the book page switches everything — audio, the word-synced transcript, chapter titles, and descriptions. Look for the "New Language Editions" section on the homepage, and if you want your language next, that's exactly what translation requests are for.
Becoming a Supporter
Last Minute Lecture is free and student-run, and it will stay that way. For those who want to help keep it running, there are now four monthly donation tiers — $3, $5, $10, and $25 — plus a one-time option, on the Support page.
Supporting is a donation, not a purchase: the site is free either way, and you can cancel anytime with one click. As a thank-you, every tier unlocks unlimited offline downloads, the private podcast feed, full transcript copying and downloads, requests, and a supporter badge.
If you were already contributing monthly before this update — thank you. Create an account with the same email your contribution uses and your supporter status will link up automatically. If it doesn't, there's a "Link my subscription" button on the Support page, or just email us.
Have a code? You can redeem supporter and bonus-request codes on the redeem page.
Smaller Things You'll Notice
- Night theme — a toggle in the header switches the whole site to a warm, dark look and remembers your choice.
- A refreshed homepage that better explains what Last Minute Lecture is.
- "Get the textbook" links on book pages, so the source book is one click away.
- Accessibility improvements across the site — better contrast, better keyboard and screen-reader support.
- The recurring support pop-up is gone. Support prompts now live quietly in fixed places instead of interrupting your studying.
- Privacy-first analytics: we built our own anonymous measurement instead of leaning on third-party trackers — no personal data, ever.
This update took months of work, and it exists because of the students who use the platform every day and the supporters who keep the lights on. If you'd like to see a feature added or spot something that needs to be addressed, please do not hesitate to reach out.
Thank you for being a part of the Last Minute Lecture Family!
