Your Data Stays Here — We've Removed All Third-Party Trackers

Google Analytics is gone. Last Minute Lecture now carries zero third-party analytics or advertising trackers — measurement is entirely our own, anonymous, and deleted after 90 days.

Your Data Stays Here

When we launched accounts back in July, we said we'd built our own privacy-first measurement instead of leaning on third-party trackers. Today we finished the job: Google Analytics has been removed from Last Minute Lecture entirely.

It was the last third-party tracker on the site. There are now none.

What that means

  • No third-party analytics. No Google Analytics, no Meta pixel, no Hotjar, no Clarity, no Segment — nothing. We checked the whole site, not just the pages you'd expect.
  • No advertising trackers, and no ads. We've never run ads, and we've never sold or shared your data. That isn't changing.
  • No tracking cookies. We don't use cookies to follow you around the internet, because we don't follow you around the internet.
  • Even our fonts are self-hosted. They're bundled with the site at build time, so simply loading a page doesn't call out to Google at all.

What we do measure — and how little it is

We still need to know a few basic things to keep improving the platform: which textbooks students actually open, whether the audio player is working, which chapters people finish. So we built our own measurement system that runs on our own servers.

Here's the entirety of what it knows about you:

  • A random ID. Your browser gets a randomly generated identifier — something like 8f14e45f-ce.... That's it. No name, no email, no account link. It exists so we can tell "one person visited five chapters" apart from "five people visited one chapter each."
  • Anonymous events. Which page was viewed, whether audio played, whether a search returned results. No personal data, ever.
  • Automatically deleted. Raw event data is permanently deleted after 90 days. We keep only anonymous daily totals after that — numbers, with nothing attached to them.

You can wipe your identifier at any time by clearing your browser's site data. There's nothing to opt out of, because there's nothing following you.

Being straight with you

A few services are genuinely necessary to run a site like this, and we'd rather name them than pretend otherwise:

  • Clerk handles sign-in, so your account is secure.
  • Stripe handles payments, so we never see or store a card number.
  • Cloudflare hosts the site and delivers the audio.

These handle only what they need to do their job — none of them are tracking your behavior for advertising, and none of them get a profile of your studying.

Why we bothered

You're students. You're already tracked enough. The whole point of Last Minute Lecture is that you can open a chapter at 2am the night before an exam, listen, and leave — without something in the background quietly building a profile of you and selling it on.

Free doesn't have to mean "you're the product." This site is free because people choose to support it, not because we monetize you.

Nothing on your end changes. The site works exactly as it did — just with one less company watching over your shoulder.

Thank you for being a part of the Last Minute Lecture Family!
